Being
raised in the early sixties in a single income household and seven
children was a wonderful time for me. However, it meant hand-me-downs
and sharing clothes with my older sister's. What a treat it was to watch my
mother sew on her old Singer sewing machine. Especially if it looked like
she was making a dress. Then my chances were greater that it might
be for me.
As
I entered my teens I began sewing my own clothes. I still remember that
first reversible vest and matching culottes that I thought were so stylish.
And of course they're coming back in style once again.
As
I grew, so did my love for sewing. My interests kept me growing in
abilities and experiences. I began making costumes for the school plays,
then curtains for our new home, even doll clothes for my daughters.
Of
course in the seventies the "craft bug" got me too. Yes I made macramé
curtains, plant hangers and purses until my family was tired of them. In
the eighties I supplied local craft stores with all kinds of stuffed animals and
angel dolls too.
This new concept of Teddy Bears and the inspiration behind each one
comes from the one who created me and I give Him all the glory!
